Our first 2018 Community Gathering took place March 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church from 6:30-7:30 pm. Ryan Kepler, former L’Arche Assistant in Spokane and current CSU student in Occupational Therapy, ably led the Gathering in true L’Arche form with time for getting to know each other, snacks and song.
Jocelyn Delgado, Former L’Arche Assistant in the Ipswich community in England, shared pictures and stories from her time with that community. Joan Winchester spoke of L’Arche USA’s support for FOLFC especially in the western L’Arche communities. Tammy Breeding, Board President, outlined our 2018 goals and our specific needs (see 2018 Discernment).
March 18 – 21, we welcomed Joan Winchester, L’Arche USA Western Regional Coordinator, to Northern Colorado and our hearts and our activities.
Joan’s visit coincided with our Community Gathering on March 19 and she brought much wisdom and enthusiasm for efforts to found the L’Arche community in Fort Collins.
She was able to spend time with the Leadership Team, see more of the Fort Collins com- munity (Starry Night coffee shop, FoCo Café, Café Vino), and walk by the city houses that we had previewed on Sherwood and along the river.
On Joan’s final evening, after a chili supper, she led us in a discussion of the White Paper on Spirituality in L’Arche.
We all hope that her next visit will come when we are an official L’Arche Project.
These gatherings are meant for people to come and learn about L’Arche, form community and see how they might be able to help out. Come to the next Community Gathering:
